An audiologist will use audiometers. Computers, and other devices to test patients’ hearing ability and balance, determine the extent of hearing damage, and identify the underlying cause. They typically do the following: Examine patients who have hearing, balance, or related ear problems. The Audiologist will be responsible for providing a complete audio-logical evaluation for Health Center patients.

Essential Duties:

  • The Audiologist will make his/herself available to interface with the physicians at the Health Center.
  • A complete audio-logical evaluation of the health Center patients consists of air and bone conduction, threshold testing, auditory word identification with masking s indicated, and tympanometry.
  • The Audiologist will assist the physician in describing the extent and nature of the hearing loss in an effort to provide a treatment plan.
  • After treatment, the Audiologist will conduct studies to determine the effect of the treatment.
  • The Audiologist will counsel the patient regarding the extent and type of hearing loss.
  • When necessary, the Audiologist will make the appropriate referral to other professionals (e.g., Otolaryngologist, speech, pathologist, hearing aid dispenser).
  • The Audiologist will interpret the results in light of other clinical findings and make rehabilitative recommendations.
  • Test findings will be reported in a clear and concise manner in the patient’s chart.
  • The Audiologist may participate in the training of residents and students.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Two (2) years of experience as a clinical audiologist is preferred.
  • Graduate of an approved audiology training program.
  • Able to communicate effectively with a diverse population.
  • Graduate from a Masters Degree Program from an accredited college or university. Doctorate Degree preferred.
  • Basic computer skills are required.
  • NYS license to practice audiology.
