A Dermatologist is a physician who is trained to evaluate and treat children and adults with benign and malignant disorders of the skin, hair, nails, and adjacent mucous membranes. The Dermatologist is responsible for providing medical services to Health Center patients in the field of Dermatology specialization, which the physician completed training in. The Dermatologist is in an independent and interdependent relationship with members of the medical staff, which allows consultation, collaboration, or referral. Responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of acute, chronic, and long-term conditions.

Essential Duties:

  • The physician is responsible for the examination, diagnosis, and treatment of adult patients with skin problems.
  • Ordering and following up of lab and other diagnostic tests on some occasions, simple skin biopsy.
  • This also includes the final disposition of the patient.
  • When appropriate, the physician will coordinate care with other members of the health care team and refer patients when necessary for further diagnostic work-up or treatment.
  • Hospital admission when warranted as well as coordinating inpatient care.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • 1 to 2 years’ experience in the field of Dermatology.
  • Graduate of an approved residency program.
  • Simple skin biopsy.
  • Graduate of an approved medical school.
  • Basic computer skills are required.
  • NYS license to practice medicine and surgery.
  • Board Certification or Board eligibility in the field of specialty.
